When and why did you join the industry?

Aircraft engineering apprentice started in 1988.

What do you like most about your job?

Variety and you never know what each day will bring.

How did you end up in the position you are today?

After many years as Engineering Manager my CEO was retiring and I seemed to be his natural replacement.

What do you think sets your service apart from the rest?

Always appreciate your employees and have respect for everyone no matter what their title is.

What’s one of the biggest achievements of your career so far?

Steering an airline through the Ansett collapse in 2001 and building FlyPelican from scratch to what it is now.

What’s the best advice ever given to you and who gave it?

Make sure that you have no regrets and keep a good balance between work and leisure. My old boss when I worked as a young engineer in the UK.

Who do you admire and see as a role model in the industry?

Steve Ferris owner of Pionair – he is a go getter.

What can people expect from your company and what sets it apart from the rest?

A family type business where everyone is equal and treated with respect.

What destinations are on your travel bucket list?

South America and India

What’s a memorable travel experience you’ve had (good or bad)?

My 40th birthday in Fiji with about 40 friends and family from all across the world

What are three things you always take with you when travelling?

Poncho, Headphones and a smile.

What direction do you see the industry heading in over the next five to ten years?

More frequency of flights across the globe with unpiloted aircraft becoming a reality for passenger services.
