JTB Corp. and Tourism Australia have signed a memorandum of cooperation agreement concerning Cooperative marketing for Australia. This cooperative marketing will be implemented from the 1st April 2018 to the 31st March 2019.
In celebrating this, a launch event was held on 20th Feb. 2018 at CBD, Sydney with the attendance of Mr. Toru Ikuta, President & CEO of JTB World Vacations, and other senior members of JTB Group Companies from Japan.
Our guest list was filled with leaders in the travel trade industry including John O’Sullivan, Managing Director of Tourism Australia, and Paul Donavan, Chairman of Gold Coast Tourism.
From an airline sector, Masashi Ogino, Country Manager Japan of Qantas. who have kindly flown in from Tokyo.
The JTB Group Companies have initially introduced, “Global Destination Campaign” since the fiscal year of 2017. On upcoming year, Australia was named as focus country.
JTB says that aviation capacity and routes increasing in number as well as demand, we have selected Australia as a campaign destination:
JTB Australia in conjunction with JTB HQ in Tokyo, will create an attractive travel product to seek exchange between Japan and Australia under the themes lifestyle, culture and creativity.
JTB Corp. and JTB Australia will work in tandem to jointly conduct marketing, promotional activities, product development and various seminars and planning to expand travel to Australia in all areas of group travel, MICE, educational travel and FIT.
This launch event held was partly in conjunction to solid collaboration with Tourism Australia and include are some principal details;
l Maximize awareness of the Australia as a holiday destination in Japan and expand the number of travellers and expenditures through the JTB Group though various contact points.
l Strengthening Australian products in package tours and group packages due to product development and product diversification, implementation of retail store promotion and other various promotion developments.
l Education and promotion activities for over-the-counter group sales and group staff of the JTB Group.
Additionally, for the first time as a Japanese travel company, the JTB Group will carry out a charter agreement with Alliance Airlines in order to develop original product for selling popular destinations in Australia among Japanese travelers, which is a significant step in JTB’s commitment to Australia.
As an example, to help the traffic flow, in August 2018, the JTB Group will set up a charter flight between Tokyo and Darwin by Qantas Airways to sell more Top End destination as accessible destination where currently no direct flight from Japan.
