Travel Counsellors sponsors International Women’s Day event
Travel Counsellors was a proud sponsor of today’s International Women’s Day event organised by Helene Taylor and her team from JITO. Joined by a range of other sponsors including Intrepid Group, Air New Zealand, The Travel Corporation and Brown Brothers, the event celebrated the significant achievements of women working within the industry and encouraged more women to take up future opportunities for leadership within the sector.
More than 500 female and male attendees were present at the Women for Women event on International Women’s Day. The all-day event included a keynote speech by well-known motivational speaker and athlete, Turia Pitt. The event also had many thought provoking speeches from travel industry leaders including John Veitch CEO, TTC; Penny Spencer Managing Director, Spencer Travel; and Jennifer Vandekreeke VP of Carnival Cruises.
With both women and men attending, Women for Women was an inclusive event aimed at promoting diversity within the industry while celebrating the achievements of women around the globe. With representatives from industry bodies, airlines, travel agents, tour operators and hotel groups, this event was a good opportunity for travel professionals to connect and unite for a common cause.
David Hughes, Managing Director of Travel Counsellors Australia comments, “International Women’s Day is an important opportunity to reflect on the diversity of talent that makes the travel industry what it is. Travel Counsellors empowers both women and men to take control of their lives by offering flexible work arrangements and a supportive environment. These foundations empower agents to create a business that works for them, and delivers financial as well as personal freedom. We were pleased to be a key sponsor of this event and enjoyed connecting with likeminded industry professionals on the day.”
