Company name:   Centara Hotels & Resorts

When and why did you join the industry?

I joined the hospitality industry recently, actually when I started in my role at Centara. I had already been working in Thailand for a year when I was offered this role. At the time, I was looking for new horizons.

What do you like most about your job?

I have been working in the digital industry for about 10 years and I am really passionate about the web and e Commerce but the most exciting part about this role is learning all the specificities of the hospitality industry.

What’s one of the biggest achievements of your career so far?

Few years ago, I launched an online retail store and in just over 1 year I achieved top rankings in search engines for almost all the key term related to the market, coming either 1st or 2nd in SERP. As a result, the profitability rate thrived up to 25%.

What’s the best advice ever given to you and who gave it?

“Success is 99% about hard work and 1% about talent”. Henri Matisse.

Who do you admire and see as a role model in the industry?

I am quite new to the industry but I have been really impressed by the skills and knowledge of Tom Thrussell, Vice President of Brand, Marketing & Digital and Chris Bailey, Chief Operating Officer.

What can people expect from your company and what sets it apart from the rest?

Our core value and customer dedication is what truly makes a difference with other hotel brands. I also believe our loyalty programme is one of the more advanced in South-East Asia.

What destinations are on your travel bucket list?

Egypt, New Zealand, Peru and Sumatra are definitely on my list.

What’s a memorable travel experience you’ve had (good or bad)?

Montana was once of the most beautiful places I had the chance to go to. Nature is incredible over there. Way different from Thailand indeed.

What are three things you always take with you when travelling?

My Laptop and my DSLR.

Name someone famous you’d like to travel with and a destination you’d like to go with them.

I would love to discover Easter Island with Graham Hancock, British writer.

What direction do you see the industry heading in over the next five to ten years?

It will be 100% digital, with mobile devices at the centre of the on-stay experience. Hotels will offer Tailored Experiences and on-demand add-ons.
