AirAsia X has posted strong quarterly revenue rises in the third quarter (Q3) 2013, with positive growth expected to continue into the New Year, according to chief executive Azran Osman-Rani.
The low-cost carrier reported revenue earnings of RM601.5 million during Q3 2013, up 23.6 percent compared to the same period last year.
Total passengers carried in Q3 were up 32.4 percent year-over-year to 0.8 million, while available seat kilometres rose 31.9 percent to 5,137 million, as a result of additional aircraft capacity.
These capacity upgrades were assigned to increasing frequencies on Chengdu, Taipei, Sydney and Melbourne routes, as well as the launch of the airline’s Busan, Colombo and Male services.
AirAsia X’s load factor for Q3 2013 stood at 82.3 percent.
“With our first international hub set up in Thailand expected to commence operations in 2014, the new opening of KLIA2 next year and the recent 2014 Government Budget Initiatives promoting the Malaysian tourism sector; AirAsia X expects a continued strong growth momentum as we head into the New Year,” AirAsia X chief executive Azran Osman-Rani said.
