Disney Cruise Lines’ oldest ship, the fifteen year old Disney Magic is heading for a spruce up following her summer season in the Mediterranean, when she enters dry dock in Cadiz, Spain in September for a month.

Disney says that new water slides, children’s clubs and characters will feature in the spruce up of the vessel, with Marvel cartoon characters being used for the first time in the Avengers Academy entertainment experience, where children aged 3 to 12 can interact with characters.

In addition, a three-story AquaDunk body slide with a translucent tube that extends 20 feet over the side of the ship is being installed and another tube will feature 250 feet of loops and turns.

The Parrot Cay restaurant is being replaced with a Brazilian-style Carioca, with additional space is being added to the Topsider Buffet, which will also be re-named Cabanas with interestingly, what Disney describes as an Australian theme.

O’Gills, an Irish sports bar is being added, with After Hours replacing Beat Street.

Disney Cruise Line president Karl Holz said that Disney has always been committed to reinvesting in its fleet and continuously making shipboard enhancements that elevate the guest experience, adding, “What we’re doing with the Disney Magic is yet another step forward in our commitment to delivering the absolute best family vacations at sea.”
