ITB Asia 2012 will incorporate a new initiative, Future Leaders, aimed at bringing together industry business leaders and more than one hundred gifted Singaporean students to formulate strategic business solutions.
The Singapore Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (SACEOS) and Singapore Tourism Board (STB) have partnered to organise the invitation-only event.
The Future Leaders program will take place on 19 October at The Sands Expo and Convention Center within the Marina Bay Sands Complex, Singapore.
“Future Leaders will give industry professionals access to some of Singapore’s brightest minds, and serve as a platform to formulate talent management policies,” ITB Asia executive director Nino Gruettke said.
“The initiative also reinforces ITB Asia’s aim to bring together our partners to share knowledge and build networks to future-proof their businesses,” Mr Gruettke said.
Messe Berlin (Singapore) are the organisers of the 2012 ITB Asia trade show.
The event will feature a panel discussion with speakers representing different segments of travel, discussing students’ concerns regarding potential career paths within the industry upon graduation.
A mentorship programme will connect young and vibrant industry executives with students through discussions and activities, providing opportunities to network and exchange insights.
“There is a critical need to groom the next generation of talent through strategic partnerships and innovative talent programmes,” SACEOS president Rosalind Ng said.
Future Leaders will conclude with a networking session attended by the human resource personnel of key industry players, as well as representatives from top universities Singapore Institute of Technology and Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne in search of the brightest students from travel, tourism and hospitality.
Following ITB Asia, Future Leaders will continue its engagement with students through social media networks and planned hosted activities organised throughout the year.
